MTN Share: How to Change Transfer Pin on MTN. Everything you need to know.
MTN Share, formerly known as Share ‘N’ Sell, is a fantastic service provided by MTN that allows you to send airtime (credit) from your MTN account to other MTN customers’ accounts. Whether you’re a new or existing prepaid or postpaid customer on the MTN network, you can use MTN Share, and guess what? It’s absolutely free.
Changing Your MTN Share PIN:
Before you start transferring airtime, you’ll need to change your default PIN, which is set to 0000. Here’s how:
1. Via SMS: Send an SMS to 321 with the format “Default PIN New PIN New PIN”. For example, if your default PIN is 0000 and you want to change it to 1234, send “0000 1234 1234” to 321.
2. Via USSD: Dial 321Default PINNew PINNew PIN# on your phone and press send/OK. For instance, dial 321000012341234# and then press send/OK.
Once you’ve changed your PIN successfully, you’ll receive an SMS confirming the update.
How to Transfer Airtime:
1. Via SMS: Send an SMS to 321 with the format “Transfer Recipient’s Number Amount PIN”. For example, send “Transfer 08031234567 1500 1234” to 321. After sending, you’ll receive an SMS asking you to confirm by sending “YES” to 321.
2. Via USSD: Dial 321Recipient’s NumberAmountPIN# on your phone and press send/OK. For instance, dial 3210803123456715001234# and press send/OK. Once the transfer is complete, you’ll receive a message confirming its success.

Important Notes Before Transferring
- You can only transfer in Naira amounts, not in kobo.
- You can transfer between NGN50.00 – NGN5,000.00 in a single transaction.
- You can transfer up to NGN50,000.00 from your phone to either a single or multiple MTN accounts every day.
- There’s no limit to the maximum number of transactions per day.
If your MTN prepaid account balance is insufficient, the transfer won’t go through. - Postpaid customers can only transfer airtime when their account is in positive balance.
