This is a secret your bank officer will not tell you. I’m going to reveal the secret you need to know before you choose your next of kin or whether you should even bother about next of kin when you are opening a bank account.

So what do you think will happen with the money you have in your bank, account if you mistakenly pass away today? Or if you die today, what will happen to the money in your bank account? Nothing right? Your next of kin will do. Claim it. Right?

Your wife or your spouse or your children being able to claim it?  They will be able to claim it but this is one thing you need to know. You have to go through a legal process, contact a lawyer, pay the lawyer.

Then they will have to process the document for you. After that, you’ll go to the bank, change signature to the account, do a whole lot of that. This may probably cost more than half of the money you have in your bank account.

If you are unable to pass through all this process, then the money you have in your bank account will not be transferable to your next account.

So this is the simple thing you just need to do if you have a Bank Account. Either you are Nigerian or not and you have at least a $1,000 in the bank account. Go to your bank and request for what you call POD form. PAYABLE ON DEATH Form.

Let them give you the form. Take the form home. Let your so-called nest of kin or your wife or husband to fill the form. Have easily a signature to the account. Accept the terms and conditions. Then return the form back to your bank.

When you return the form back to your bank, your bank will close out the form and if anything mistakenly happens to you, the money will be transferable to the person whose details are on the POD form.

This is called Payable On Death If the person is able to provide the death certificate. So with just the death certificate of any victim and the POD form signed before the accident, you don’t have to claim any money in your victim’s back account.

But if this is not done before this thing happens, you have to pass through a lot of process including legal action and even sometimes you have to beg your bank officers to plead until you are down to your stomach. But with the mere POD form, your next of kin or your spouse will still claim the money in your bank Account when you are no more.
