About NCDC:

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) is a government agency responsible for coordinating the surveillance, detection, and response to infectious disease outbreaks in Nigeria. Over the past three years, NCDC has been actively involved in deploying new tools for disease surveillance, including the Surveillance, Outbreak Response Management and Analysis System (SORMAS), to improve public health services in Nigeria.

Position Overview:

As a Training Consultant, you will play a crucial role in supporting the delivery of Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) training programs and workshops funded by the Global Fund’s COVID-19 Response Mechanism (C19RM). You will collaborate closely with the National IPC Program Coordinator and other stakeholders to determine training needs and facilitate engaging sessions for participants.

Key Responsibilities

– Deliver IPC training courses as part of the Diploma in IPC program, both in-person and online.

– Provide mentorship and support to course participants to help them apply IPC principles effectively.

– Facilitate IPC workshops to build the capacity of state and facility IPC focal points.

– Create and update training materials based on the latest IPC guidelines and best practices.

– Coordinate with regional and local authorities during outbreaks to ensure effective control measures.

– Undertake activities that support the IPC unit in meeting its national objectives.

– Reflect NCDC’s goals in your work and behavior.

– Contribute to learned society events, journals, and grant reviews.

– Keep up to date with the latest research and thinking in the field of IPC.

– Complete all mandatory training required by NCDC for personal development.

Requirements for the Job

– Degree in Medicine, Nursing, Public Health, or related field

– At least 5 years of experience implementing IPC programs in low-and middle-income countries.

– IPC certification, preferably a postgraduate diploma, is highly desirable.

– Proven experience in facilitating training programs, especially in IPC.

– Strong knowledge of international and national IPC guidelines and standards.

– Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

– Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Zoom.

– Ability to work well in a team setting.
